Musings of an expat, part (n+1)

Confession time: I miss hockey.

I never really watched it when I was at home, but it was always on. My brothers-in-law watched it. I picked up a lot by osmosis.
I may have to start watching it seriously again. Although I am somehow deeply offended by the fact that there are hockey teams in parts of the country that don't cope with snow. The fact that Nashville and Atlanta and Anaheim have hockey teams really ... does weird things to my consiousness. (Vancouver for some reason is exempt from this, probably because it's Canadian.)
I don't know. The game is played on ice. It just feels weird to hear about games in the South. And then there's the damn blue dot. Do they still do that?

Oh, you should talk to Canadian [livejournal.com profile] branwynelf about her beloved San Jose Sharks.

Well, at least four of the eight teams in the new WHA are Canadian (Halifax, Toronto, Quebec, and Hamilton), and one is in Detroit, and another may be in Vancouver (of course, the other two are in Dallas, and somewhere in Florida), so at least if the NHL tanks out, you'll have that. And there's always the World Cup.

I miss hockey too.

Of course, I do watch it, and it's only (only! only says she! *scoff*) about 2 months since the Cup was awarded ... but still. I miss it! Withdrawl!

As for hockey in places that doesn't get snow - they play golf in places where it doesn't rain, the Jamaicans had a bobsledding team in the Olympics, etc.

Me, I'm in San Jose. It has snowed here (none of it actually survived hitting the ground, but it DID snow!) and we have a hockey team. And I'm amazingly greatful for it - 'til then my access to the sport was ... well "limited" doesn't really express how little I got to see.

And no, they gave up on the blue dot. Gods that was annoying!

Man, I miss hockey SO MUCH. How long has it been since you've "watched" any of it?

Go Kings! Hockey in California FOREVER!!! :P
