the play's the thing, or: undergraduate juggling match 101
So I've decided to do a Theater minor (production, not acting) as well as the Writing and Film Studies minors.
On the one hand, this means I'm going to be in school an extra year. But given the general insanity of my real life, that may happen regardless: 12/13 credits per quarter is really all I can realistically handle what with the boy and his "special needs" (God, I hate that term, but I can't think of a better one) and Chris going out of town for random occasonal long periods of time, unreliable sleep, etcetera and so forth. All of my previous calculations had me going 16/17 credits per quarter, which has been proven really, really difficult, and I don't feel like being awarded my undergraduate degree posthumously, thank you very much. So the extra year may have to happen anyway, and while I'm there, I might as well get something for my money.
And besides, I like working backstage. :-D A lot. I like acting, too, but I'm more interested in the production side of things.
What is my actual major, you may ask? I'm majoring in Arts and Letters, which is basically like a stereotypical Chinese menu: take x courses in y different departments plus one writing intensive class equals an actual college major. So I'm doing writing and film studies and theater (with a side of music theory and art history) in hopes that I can get some kind of arts-related job at some point. Yes, this is a real major, I swear it.
Today's imp: Amsterdam. Smells like tulips, not pot. Tulips and rain and wet grass. It's pretty.
joedecker, the cards arrived today, and they're absolutely gorgeous.
Today we watched most of 'Looking for Richard' in class. I never figured Al Pacino would be able to pull off doing Shakespeare, but he does.
