blindy kid nirvana
Just met with the dude that works with Children and Family Services for the Washington Department of Services for the Blind (referred to hereafter as Washington DSB).
They have a two day preschool conference for their families every fall. (Their definition of family == 'anyone who is important to the child':![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
doubletake, you want to come along?) They can go into daycares and consult with them, including things like modifying programs and toys. They have a teen summer program where they put the kids in work placements in the community and make them live on their own and learn to prepare food and care for themselves. They have access to communication specialists that specifically work with blind nonverbal children, for God's sake, and they are going to put us in touch with them.
