mundane, but pretty

It is almost warm here; the cherry trees are blooming.

university library branch, 3/19/08

This is my local library, which is about six blocks from my apartment. I went there this morning after my psych appointment (verdict: I can has drug refills, I'm doing fine, the psych looks like a slightly older version of Beverly Crusher, it's kind of weird). I picked up three movies, a book on the history of cleanliness and a gluten-free cookbook. The neighbor's chickens were out when I came home.

Other than that today has been boring and kind of nonproductive, which is annoying and which I need to fix. Tomorrow evening is entirely a wash because we have a meeting with the kid's school about summer programs. I am currently resenting the hell out of this meeting, but I'm not stupid enough to pass up information on sleepaway camp, so I'll go, and I'll hate it, and I'll probably pass the inane question period reading fanfic on my smartphone and trying not to strangle the clueless. Fun times!

At the moment, we have grapes and Thievery Corporation remixes. The cat is eating Sean's leftover kiwi fruit. Someone's forgotten to tell him that cats are technically carnivorous.

Thievery Corporation rocks. Do you listen to a lot of downtempo? Or does it depend on the song?

It depends on the moment. <3 I listen to most things: I don't tend toward country, rap or folk except on a per-song basis, but just about anything else is fair game. Whatever I'm in the mood for. Before this I was listening to Sweeney Todd (the Broadway version); before that I was listening to the Shins. My music collection is kind of all over the place.

Oh cool.

Um... same here. I was just wondering. :)

Maybe the cat got confused as to which sort of kiwi.

This ... would not surprise me. He is a fan of bird meats. <3

Have i asked about these chickens before?

[identity profile] phinnia.livejournal.com 2008-03-20 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think so, no! They have three of them I think. We can hear them from our apartment, usually in the mornings: I thought I was crazy the first little while after we'd moved in until I saw one. <3 They're very nice chickens.

*covets your pretty library*

Isn't it gorgeous? It's not as new and trendy as the downtown one (which was a huge architectural to-do and has a funny shape and seven floors and is mostly glass) but it's charming and cute and the staff are nice.

History of cleanliness? That actually sounds very interesting. We have a crappy library here (small town).

I had a cat once that ate lettuce. He ran away after we had our first kid. Smart cat.

Sorry 'bout the boring meeting. Do you HAVE to attend in order for Sean to be able to go to camp? I'll write you a doctor's note, I forge my boss's signature all the time on those :D

It looks good! It's called 'The Dirt On Clean: An Unsanitized History'. :-) I think I'll start it tonight.
Neko will literally eat anything, including stuff he's not supposed to like rubber bands and plastic. *sigh*
