I am reminded of the card-catalogs we used to have in public libraries -- the big wooden chests with all the long drawers that slid out so easily, and everything smelled like old paper cardstock and wood worn smooth ...
When I was married, I had a pair of tiger-oak card catalogs in an odd old size -- the drawers were something like 3.5 inches high by 7.375 wide, 2 ranks of 10 per catalog. They were about the height and width of four-frawer file cabinets. I miss them much more than I miss my ex-husband.
the junk store in town has an old post office thing or card catalog or something cabinet of drawers, all with little spaces in the front for cards to label. I want it SO much. everything would have a home forever!
i sqeed rather loudly. so loudly three parrots and a child asked- what?
those are fantastic. i liked the first the best, though. thanks for that link- it gives me ideas, and those are dangerous. have aluminum, rivets, and time, ways and dyes to anodize, can create numbered chests of drawers for own use. yay!
