how has the day failed? let me count the ways

in the ways of our intermittently functioning hot water heater (which, btw, has been located and was behind the stove of all goddamned places) we had enough hot water for one shower. Which meant that [livejournal.com profile] tallin and I showered together and it got cold about 2/3 of the way through.

god knows when it's going to be fixed. hoopefully soon.

i have to reschedule his audiology appt because of all this shit that's happened and i'm fresh out of cope and time. i'd reschedule myown dr's appointment except i desperately need more panic pills.

i'm afraid my glasses perscription may need readjusting again which means moar appts.

i have not shaved my legs in ages and i look like a yeti

sean missed his bus so chris has to take him to school on the way to work

his lunchbag went missing

(horrible mother alert) the new teacher is giving the kids 'homework' and since in this class the kids are all sped that essentially means that we have to do it,so we have to read five books to him and lately i'm luckky to have five minutes to rub together.

i'm falling asleep but i really need more nopanic meds because the house premiere is tonigh an AUGH.

I have not shaved my legs in about a decade. It's just too much of a pain in the ass. It's amazing the extent to which no one seems to care. Also, Seattle, in the winter? Come on. You need a layer of insulation. ;)

Augh. I hope things settle down.

moar appointments. augh.

:: hugs ::

if today is not better, i will come to seattle and slay it.

Trust me when I say that my legs are worse than yours. Just ... yeah. :)

Reading five books to a blind kid with auditory problems? Hmm..
*hugs*

Reading five books to a blind kid with auditory problems? Hmm..

It ... yeah, that last bit kinda kills it right there. I mean, blind people have had books read to them since approximately the beginning of time (hell, a few of them haven't yet realized you can buy a scanner at your computer electronics store of choice, some reasonably good commercial or specialized optical character recognition software, and read books yourself—which opens up whole new worlds, presents innovative opportunities for the blind, blah blah blah somebody pass me the anti-emetic), but ... yeah. The blindness + auditory impairment of indeterminate magnitude and reading books to him ... is ... kind of an exercise in futility.

*nods* I mean, yay books, and yay reading, and all the other stuff, but find out how much of the information is actually being processed first, so that time and effort spent actually BENEFIT the kid, I suspect there are other literature related activities he'd get more out of right now.. and I'm sort of reminded of the Farside cartoon about "what dogs hear", here, which you'll hopefully not find cruel or offensive, or at least only in the good way :)

[identity profile] phinnia.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs hysterically* that is one of my very favorite strips of his and i've often felt that that is EXACTLY the way sean hears. <3

So much of the homework kids get is busywork, and it seems like this isn't different.

the yeti look is totally in. i mean, c'mon. winter's coming! bring out the cold weather fashions! or just the me fashions. fuck shaving, I hates it. my legs are undoubtedly "worse" (by which i mean "totally hairier sweeeet") than yours. and shaving involves way too much imbalance and falling down with sharp objects. so yeah, fuck it! fuzzy is good.

like someone said. five books to a kid with both visual and hearing impairments? um.

We have "A.R." books (accelerated reader?) that have to be read five times at night. Same book, 5 times over. Its fine when the kid can read, but when its a lil one and someone (me) has to read it to them, it sucks big time for Mom who is a) busy with other kids, housework etc, b)tired from being at work all day and c)really annoyed by the stupidity of the book.

Your legs are like a Yeti's? Well, my eyebrows resemble furry caterpillars! Pass the wax, plz. : D

Something to pass on to idiot landlord.

Having hot water suddenly start running out fast is usually because the upper heating element in the tank is ok, and the lower one is burned out.

So only the water in the upper part of the tank gets heated.
