clickies!

Southern Baptist role of women/children is damaging. (from the very nifty [livejournal.com profile] joedecker). What makes this very interesting is that it's written by a biblical literalist/southern baptist. Good stuff.

From the most excellent [livejournal.com profile] brightflashes: expectant brains help predict anxiety treatment success (v. interesting and understandable to those of us (meaning me) that have expectant brains.) and also: ancient fossil suggest origin of cheetahs.

My darlingest internet-daughter [livejournal.com profile] sunsetsinthewes has some pictures of Lego sculptures here (plus an awesome one made of conversation hearts).

And for the artist-types in the crowd, [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar (who is all kinds of wonderful) has a post on 'the character of paint."

(several hours later I realized I totally forgot to post this. d'oh)

(and then AGAIN. but we are having a lovely day with [livejournal.com profile] arjache and [livejournal.com profile] gizmometer hanging out and drinking tea and having dairyfree buttertarts and playing computery games and having hot chocolate and such.)

Hmm, interesting. That may be why Effexor has consistently worked for me, even when Prozac did almost nothing and WellButrin actually destabilized me.

I had SUCH an awful experience with Wellbutrin as well. Destabilized, huge panic attacks etc.

That first link... it reminds me far too much of some of the locals around here. Particularly my ex-manager's church's view toward women.

Yay! I got linked! And I knew I was the favorite daughter.

You and Kelly are both the favorite daughters. You have the same amount of favorite-ness in each of you. <3 <3

Lego = awesome.

Every time you post a selection of links like these, I immediately think of [livejournal.com profile] euclase's Tragic Fandom portrait of you, cos it's so accurate :)

hee, yes. it is rather. <3 <3 i put it in my userinfo because i love it so.

About that first link: I grew up in a Southern Baptist church and while I don't think our leadership would EVER have told a woman to stay with a husband who beat her, I did absorb some rather restrictive ideas about what and who I could be as a Christian woman. It did me a lot of harm.

I may just have to register at the site you linked, in order to recommend What Paul Really Said About Women. Very, very, very useful little book.

Ooooh. I am by no means a Christian, but I tossed that on my wish list. It looks fascinating.

I like the one about paint. It certainly explains why I am looking forward to being forced to paint with oils with intense dread. And why I like acrylic and watercolors and have come around to gouache. I am unafraid of losing control! Ehehe. But I haven't the patience or work-style for oils.

There's another post by a friend of mine that in my head goes with that post, and you might like it, is on drawing: this one here. (http://euclase.livejournal.com/386331.html)
