Another day, another phone call

Just spent some time talking to my father in law, who might be coming to visit us in July sometime. Which is a bobidda.
Tomorrow I have a root canal, which is squarely in the realm of nonbobidda. Hopefully I'll be okay to go to Vancouver Thursday. *hopes*

A random shoutout: [livejournal.com profile] reannon? What's Watergate Salad?

Another random shoutout: [livejournal.com profile] hobbitblue? If you like regular trifle (which I love, personally, but I have no cake; I might keep the raspberry jello and make it later though) try Fresh Fruit Trifle with Vanilla Custard Sauce. So good.

Okay, now I have to try to remember this off the top of my head...

WATERGATE SALAD

Dump an entire can of crushed pineapple (with juice) into a bowl (you can use chunk pineapple, but crushed works better). Add a package of instant pistachio pudding - just the mix. Stir until no blobs remain. Fold in a tub of Cool Whip and mix well. Add one cup miniature marshmallows and stir through. Best if you let it sit covered in the fridge for at least half an hour.

A tasty, quick dessert. The best part? If you use fat-free pudding and fat-free Cool Whip, the whole thing counts as diet food, since it's completely fat- and mostly sugar-free.

Why is it called Watergate Salad? Because you have to keep it covered up! :)

*groans at the pun* Journalists. :-D
That sounds pretty good. I'll have to try that.

My stepmom makes that all the time, but I can't eat it because it's way too sweet for me! (I can't eat much sweet stuff, unfortunately, which is why I eat a lot of spicy stuff. . .of course, I'm not supposed to eat that either with all my stomach problems. . .)

Hee. Blame my parents.

Typical, I suggest the very British trifle to the one American who's not only heard of it, they have their own alternative recipe! :)

I'm Canadian, and I cook a lot. So I'm an outlier. *hugs* If it helps, I actually don't have a good british trifle recipe.

Oops, missed that fact, me sorry.. Its fine, I just felt dumb recommending something new and exciting (!?) that you already knew all about is all :)
