phinnia: smiling dolphin face (gerbera)

A fine sunny morning.

Happy Mayday, or Beltane, or whatever it suits you ...
(Which reminds me: this week's [livejournal.com profile] drabblemania topic is a bitch, innit?)

So last night I had beer and moved furniture. Okay, that sounds far too dramatic; I had one beer and moved furniture. The living room is mostly moved around. The bedroom looks awful and the dining room looks vaguely bad still; but I'm sure it'll be fixed. I'm trying to get most of the back stuff done before [livejournal.com profile] raventyde gets here in two weeks (TWO WEEKS! ARGH! AAAACK! CHAOS PANIC AND DISORDER!) and I'm actually not doing too badly at it. I have to actually realistically start getting rid of stuff though, defying my pack rat tendencies.

The muse stirs again.
And to this we say (to quote [livejournal.com profile] bigbrain61) YAY!

Actually, Beltane isn't until the fifth. :-)

I noticed your post on that. :-)
(I only dress up as a pagan for hallowe'en.)

I keep pausing in my ceaseless ponderings and thinking, "Hey, if drabblemania posted [so-and-so really obscure topic] I could write a drabble about it right now!"

And then I wonder whether it's kosher to write a drabble on whatever the hell topic I want, because the mod is never in a million years going to think of the ones I think of.

Yeah, S.O.S. seemed like a relatively straightforward one when I first read it, but upon further contemplation, I came up empty. Not that my characters have never been in trouble. They just tend toward long-term trouble. Maybe I can write something about Zephyr's ongoing "help me don't hurt me" sentiment... but that's a tough one because it always applies. And I've done his one little suicide attempt to death (pardon the pun).

I know, it's killing me. And obviously a lot of other people, because I've seen what, one?

[identity profile] hai-kah-uhk.livejournal.com 2004-05-01 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, one.

I'm honestly surprised that you're having trouble. Several of your characters have a flair for the dramatic. And more happens in your Saga than in mine, action-wise. Maybe push the envelope a level or two more? I mean, if I can write a drabble about Zephyr's speech therapist for 'authenticity' then surely you can find some excuse to tie one of your characters' concerns to 'S.O.S.'

Maybe it's the Muse Vacation Week syndrome. Although I might have /something/, anyway. I just have to play with it a bit. *thinks*

I have something. But I may not write it. At least I thought of it! That's something.

If I were to write it, it would be about how Portia and Zephyr used to warn each other that the social workers or cops were coming for a visit, so they could both be elsewhere until the coast was clear.

[identity profile] phinnia.livejournal.com 2004-05-01 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be cool. Do it! Do it!
I've got something germinating in the back of my head about Ross, family vacations, and leeches; he's the most dramatic, really, so it would have to be.

[identity profile] hai-kah-uhk.livejournal.com 2004-05-01 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I was hoping Ross would come through for you!

*braces self*

Nifty. :-) You're ahead of me, I'm still mid-drabble.

Ditto. :-D
