Dumb stuff

Pictures of the kitten will come soon, I promise. We've made an appointment with a very nice vet to get Silk fixed on Thursday. And it was Good.

I was putting away groceries, and as I put away Sean's Benadryl, the package warnings jumped out at me.

Manufacturers really are kind of dense. I can understand putting the warning on Children's Benadryl that one should not take if one has glaucoma, sure. But putting warnings about not mixing it with alcohol ... or not driving ... or about prostate conditions ... ?

I should hope that Sean is doing none of the above, at his advanced age of two.

Some people are prescribed children's medicines simply because of their lower dosage, though.

Now that I didn't know. Hm. Okay, maybe it's not so foolish as it seems.

(drive-by LJ comment)

I take children's versions of almost everything because I am teeny-tiny and if I take adult versions, the effects last far too long. We discovered this the time I took Adult NyQuil and was basically completely out of it for 3 days. :)

Okay, that's sensible enough. :-D I stand corrected.

Maybe I'm crazy, but wouldn't spaying her screw up her ability to nurse the kitten? In humans at least, hormones control the milk output to a great degree, and a hysterectomy for a nursing mother would greatly disrupt the milk supply. I could be totally wrong.

Oh, that's why we're getting Silk (the boy) fixed first. They said not to spay her until after she'd weaned the baby in about a month or six weeks.

Oh! Mixed up the cats! Nevermind!

1. I think current thought is, "spay before first heat." That has changed over time, though.

2. I've taken kids' medicine as an adult, before.
