Preeeeeeeesenting ...

The 52-Pick-Up Survey ...

1. Who is the last person you were really, furiously mad at (not irked, peeved, annoyed but REALLY MAD)?
Probably my mother in law. Truthfully. Longtime readers will know some of the crap she's pulled; she's called CPS on us for no reason, she called the cops on us for no reason, she's spread lies and crap about us for no reason ... I despise this woman with every fiber of my soul.

2. Does Boston Market's "Freshly Tossed Salad Upon Request" sound good to you?
I'll agree with [livejournal.com profile] epi_lj that it's annoying as hell to find a vegetarian salad these days. I blame Atkins. I'm starting to get right pissy about this.

3. Does the above question make you snicker?
Nope!

4. What's your favourite cookie?
Fig Newmans.

5. Explain one of your user icons that might not be immediately obvious.
The one labelled 'temporal chaos' is actually one of the results from searching Google Images for that phrase. I love it. :-D

6. What is your favourite book title? (not content - just title) Why?
Probably 'Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! Adventures of A Curious Character' or 'Sewer, Gas and Electric; the Public Works Trilogy' which are both also very good reads. They're quirky.

7. If you were a fruit (not a vegetable), what kind of fruit would you be?
A kiwi. Sometimes sweet, sometimes tart, a little hard to figure out, and full of seeds, but still reasonably nifty inside. It's also not what you expect.

8. If your life were the subject of a tragedy, what would be the theme song?
Just last night I was thinking that the Moonlight Sonata is incredibly depressing. Go with that.

9. What's your favourite stuffed animal?
My fuzzy yellow bear.

10. What's the first thing you remember?
Being carried to bed (I was maybe about a year old) ... I remember it was in the basement of our first house, and I remember the latchhooked owl hanging on the wall by my bed. It's fuzzy as hell.

11. Do you eat breakfast every morning?
I try to, yes. Cereal or a bagel or fruit and yogurt, usually.

12. Jewelry or adornment most frequently worn?
I don't take off my wedding and engagement rings. Other than that, my glasses.

13. Do you like to spell things in alphabet soup?
I would if I could find some decent alphabet soup. Unfortunately the only alphabet soup I've found is the Campbells Vegetarian Vegetable, which is really awful stuff. [livejournal.com profile] mamallama hypothesized a while ago that the lack of alphabet soup was contributing to the lack of spelling ability in our nation's schools. I don't know whether that's true, but it's a neat idea with a grain of logic, and I like it. :-D

14. Do you cook? If so, name a favorite recipe. If not, tell me of a funny disaster. If you don't have one, make one up.
I love my pasta and greenbean and feta recipe, and so do a lot of other people. Saute onions, garlic, basil and oregano in olive oil while boiling pasta; add greenbeans (fresh or frozen). Saute until greenbeans are crisp-tender. Stir together with drained pasta, add feta cheese (and optional tomato) to taste. Yum.

15. Why is memory loss more apparent on a Friday afternoon? And where do the memories go?
Because we're all thinking about weekend plans already. And the memories go into hiding under the dryer lint.

16. Can you believe that *Jay London*, Mr Cro-Magnon Man, beat out Todd Glass and Ant on Last Comic Standing? The horror.
Who? (I'll go with [livejournal.com profile] epi_lj here.)

17. What advice or information would you give your younger self?
"People really do like you. Just because these people here don't show it is no reflection on you."
Also: "Dump Bob, he's driftwood."

18. How many stuffed animals do you own?
A whole bunch. Most of them are in Seaners' room now, with the exception of a large teddybear.

19. Morning person or night person? Why?
Morning person, although increasingly switch-hitter. I don't know why, to be honest. I've wired myself so I can rarely sleep past 8:30 unless I'm exhausted. But I stay up later and later, probably to get some decent Parents Time in after The Boy finally goes to sleep.

20. Do you shower daily?
In the summer, yes. In the winter not as much, but I showe every other day, or when I need it.

21. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck were named Chuck?
A woodchuck would chuck forty cords if the woodchuck were named Chuck same as any other woodchuck.

22. If you had to pick a marine invertebrate as a pet, what would you choose?
Oooh. Sea cucumbers are neat, and so are anenomes. I've gained an appreciation for tidepools since moving west.

23. What was your favorite toy as a child?
Probably my legos. I had oodles of them. I also had all of the 3" poseable care bear models and used to make dollhouses for them out of cardboard boxes. When I was much younger I'd play with paper cups and stack them into pyramids. I was a strange child.

24. Can [livejournal.com profile] pro_jenny tie you up with pantyhose?
Uh, no.

25. The undeniable merits of pulp fiction. Discuss.
There's something about the notion of trashy novels that aren't romance that is vaguely appealing. Re: the movie? It's interesting, because that was the first movie I ever saw that kind of went out of the box and was nonlinear, in short vingettes. In retrospect it had a large influence on my decision to go to film school and write. And yet, I don't have a copy. I should fix that.

26. What's your most prized technosexual gadget?
That would be telling.

27. Why do we all think these surveys are so fascinating anyway?
Because they're different, and they give us something to do.

28. What stuff do you do on Thanksgiving?
[livejournal.com profile] tallin and I do a dinner, usually a Tofurkey (I like them, okay?) and veggies. Mmmm. Tofurkey.

29. How does your life now differ from what you thought it would be when you were in school?
God. I live in an entirely different country, I have many different friends, I'm a lot more prolific writer, and I'm married with a kid. How doesn't it differ?

30. Have you ever had a crush on a cartoon character?
Not really, no. Although I knew someone who had a crush on Daphne from Scooby-Doo.

31. Have you ever pondered physical violence against another person with a blunt object?
The aforementioned mother in law. I never did it, but I would have liked to. And I had a dream once that I beat up my ex's mother.
