saturday, just add caffeine

Chris missed his train by twenty minutes because the cab driver couldn't find [livejournal.com profile] doubletake's house and got lost.
On a related note, my complete and total disinterest regarding ever living in the suburbs is probably partly related to my complete and total disinterest in ever learning to drive.
And so I'm here with my coffee and kiddo on a Saturday. Apparently Alton Brown's due on All Things Considered this afternoon, so I'll tune that in at five (woot) and try to wake up some. Sean had a slightly bad night - I think he had nightmares or something. He'd wake up for a few minutes halfway and cry. Poor kiddo.
BuyBlue has an interesting breakdown of where companies send their money, politically speaking. Note to self: shop more at Trader Joe's. I keep forgetting they exist, and they're not that far away.
Have acquired myself a smallish moleskine notebook to jot down random seeming notes and ideas. Less easily lost than a thousand and one stickies that a certain small two legged someone or two certain fourlegged someones can pull off.
Also on a related note: I like Opera's built in 'refresh this page every N minutes' feature. It's shiny, and makes stalking tracking the progress of Chris's train easier. :-D

I love the little moleskines - I grabbed a half dozen at the Powell's outlet at PDX last time I flew out of there. So handy, such creamy paper, so easy to shelve!

Aren't they great? They look classy and feel so decadent. And you can get a pack of 3 for $10. Simple pleasures.

Trader Joe's is awesome, isn't it!

I have one a block away! Now, if I can only get up early enough to go and actually do some shopping. When I go later in the day it's usually just to pick a few things up. It's busier at that time and I don't want to take up too much of their time.

What are your favourite products there?

I like their mixed dried fruit, and their soymilk is good if you like soymilk. Also their coffee. I haven't been there a LOT - I only recently found where the most convenient one is for me to get to (which is not the closest one, but a bus near our house stops right near one after going across town.)
