this yarn habit is addictive

I was thinking yesterday as my ears froze waiting for the bus 'I really need one of those headband thingys, I should find a pattern and knit one for myself'.

And then I found this one, but the cable is scaring me. How hard are cables? Do they have a terrible reputation and just want to be loved? Because other than that part the pattern doesn't look too too hard, and it's so pretty ...

They just want to be loved. I'm working on my first cable anything (a scarf), and I caught on right away.

We have one of those satellite radios, and I love it to death. I divide my time equally between the Broadway station and the college rock station. :-D

cables aren't difficult at all. give it a try with some scrap first--like training wheels for your needles. probably two repeats and you'll be ready to take the wheels off and go down the street.

These cables are so easy. All you do is put the stitches on another needle and hold them to the back or front, then knit them from the other needle. Some cables are hard, but these are really basic. Just try swatching it..you can do it!

Exactly what I was going to say. With cables, turn your brain off and follow the instruction. They pretty much make themselves. Cables make me happy. :)

What they said. Honestly, I haven't found *anything* about knitting that's truly hard, if you pay attention and take it slowly.

You don't even need a cable needle - a big safety pin or a fat toothpick will do to hold the cable stitches while you're moving them back and forth.

I'm in the "they want to be loved" crowd. I love them and I'm new at it too. You don't even need a cable needle. Check google for cabling without a cable needle. Awesome stuff. So easy. So freeing. :)
