best on hold music ever

[livejournal.com profile] tallin had to call one of his contractor's offices in Mumbai. Their on hold music was a recording of 'The Entertainer' that sounded like it was played by one of those travelling icecream trucks, or a calliope, or somethng like. It amused me greatly.

Today I have been reading 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' (which I finished - OMG SO SAD) and 'Norwegian Wood' (which I've read the first third of) in an effort to finish them both by the end of the year. Movie was called on account of strained ankle. Tomorrow there will be yarn store action. God, I lead such an exciting life, I can't stand it.

I read Kitchen; it was ok, but I think the writing style threw me off a bit. I can't put my finger on it, but I found the story rather fascinating. Then the book was overdue and I didn't read the second story. :(

What's Norwegian Wood about?

It's kind of the same sort of thing, style-wise, even though it's about a different author. It's set in Japan in the mid-sixties, and it's about two friends and a mutual friend of theirs that commits suicide, and their relationship ... it's hard to explain, but you might like it if you didn't mind 'Kitchen'. Another good one by Banana is 'Lizard', which is short stories.
