suzy homemaker rides again

So we have this table. It's ostensibly a dining room table, but the only one who actually eats at it is the boy, because it's always covered in /stuff/ and the couch is significantly more comfortable. But it's a nice table: it expands to seat six. (I dream of someday having enough people I care about in one place to have a party. Someday, hopefully.)

We also have four chairs around the table, the seats of which are covered in a particularly impractical white canvas. (We have a child with sticky hands. Anything light-coloured is impractical by nature. Or anything dark coloured. You know what I mean.)

So I'm looking for something to cover the chairs with, using Ye Olde Staple Gun method of cutting squares of fabric and stapling them over the seat portion. I was going to do them in oilcloth (because it's washable) but then I'd stick to it three months out of the year, and that would suck.

Anyone have any better ideas?

Unrelated: The grocery store was selling DVDs of 'The Princess Bride'. Yes, I got one. No, I haven't seen that. Yes, really. Hopefully it'll be less than the amount of time it took to getting around to watching the taped copy of the Voyager Series Finale (ask [livejournal.com profile] tallin for further details) before I actually watch it. Hopefully.

Unrelated 2: The Lush "Ruby Slippers" bubble bar is very nice, assuming you're a fan of rose scents. [livejournal.com profile] peachtess would like it because it's glittery, although very little of the glittery part actually comes off on your skin.

I was ohhing at that on the website actually. Didn't know it was rose scented and I'm a fan of rose. *sigh* Toronto can't come fast enough. Min thinks I'm going to bankrupt us with soap..heh =)

Yay, you got Princess Bride!

I was tempted by the Ruby Slippers but I didn't get one. Sounds lovely; I love rose scents. I need to get some Honey I Washed the Kids. My one piece that [livejournal.com profile] clara_swift sent me for christmas is good for maybe one more wash! :D

The store's nice and localish to us ... :-D Your kids would love the strawberry jiggly soap.

Princess Diaries is one of my all time favorite movies.

Holy mother of pearl! I need a "do over!" I so did not mean to type "diaries." I mean The Princess Bride. Honest.

though the princess diaries wasn't half bad

Well, Princess Diaries had Julie Andrews, you can't really go wrong with Julie Andrews. :-D

It sounds like you're feeling at least marginally better. If I'm right, I'm glad to hear it. If I'm wrong... hopefully I'll be right soon. :)

*hugs, either way*

I am, kind of. Except for the aftereffects of the cheap imitation bounce that some jackass is using downstairs. (I have GOT to move, because living over the laundry room is killing me.) Is it wrong that I want to go down there and fish it out and shove it where the sun doesn't shine?

[identity profile] dawnstar.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Certainly not wrong to want to - any more than it is wrong for me to want to do the same with my neighbor's high heeled shoes which she wears to CLOMP all over her apartment above my head! *ahems*

However, the "wrongness" of actually doing it would depend on who you ask. I say it's fine, but the Justice Department might say otherwise...

Damn, then I'd get deported. Sigh. :P

Yeah, and I can't imagine it's better to do time in a Canadian prison than in an American one.

Try their 'whoosh!' jelloy soap. It's so nifty. :-D

The Princess Bride is a movie that a junior high youth leader allowed us to watch on Sunday evenings for three months. As a result, I know that movie rather well, but I still like it. Enjoy.

What I'd do with the chairs is get some cheap towels that more or less match each other (Goodwill might be a thought) and put them on the seats.

If you are feeling ambitious, get some terrycloth and attach snaps to it so you can "snap on" the seat covers.

I use some ugly old towels on my computer chair because the fabric is scratchy at best and *nasty* in the summertime.
