poor kid looks like his mother cuts his hair

I got sick and tired of getting knots out of the boy's hair and cut it this morning with a pair of kitchen scissors. I do this every now and again. Hopefully it doesn't look too doofy.

Maybe I should do what my mom did and pick up an actual pair of haircutting scissors. My father had one non-home-haircut in the last ten years of his life, and that was when my mom was in the hospital for three weeks.

(Wow, the 'night' setting does that weird colour saturated thing that used to happen with 1970's kodachrome. Fascinating.)

(Yes, that is a dead credit card. He loves those. God knows why.)

My son's hair is extremely thick, and it grows quickly. He's had a recent hack (and I do mean hack because he had chicken pox all over his scalp, so I couldn't try and do a neat job... it was done as quickly as possible), and out of his 15 haircuts, only one has been done by someone other than my mom or me.

Our kids love playing with old credit/bank/debit cards. My dad's hair has always been cut by my mom (well, for as long as they have been married). I'm too afraid to touch my husband's hair. He actually has to look decent. My son.. well, who cares? He doesn't.
