today's adventures in marketing

Seen today:

  • two guys in full cowboy attire, including boots and hats
  • a girl in a really awesome purple pimp hat (you know the ones with the big feathers, the straw ones? I always think of them as pimp hats.)
  • HP sauce! I love that stuff. Purchased two bottles, one regular and one Mild Indian Curry.
  • A 25-year old fratboy hopped up on some kind of artificial happy pill or another that decided I needed parenting advice (swear to god.)
  • a fire hydrant draped with flowers (I was so MAD that I didn't bring my camera for that one. :-D I didn't even have my phone. The one time I go out without it ... argh!)
  • Martinelli's sparkling apple juice in single serving glass bottles (the child attempted to drink out of it. being not used to fizzy drinks, he wasn't sure what to make of it, and kept sticking his tongue in the bottle, which amused me.)
  • A job posting at my favorite tea and crumpet shop for a crumpet baker (if it weren't at 5:30 AM I'd totally be there, dude.)
  • The lady who runs the tea and crumpet shop, who is an awesome old lady in her sixties with pink-streaked hair. She remembered us and even remembered Seaners likes soup even though we were only there for a drink and to buy crumpets to take home. You can't get service like that in a big-box store.
  • My favorite fruit and vegetable vendor, who is filled with information and doesn't mind doing all the running around the stall for me.
  • mayonnaise buns (are those good? they sound frightening.)
  • A guy playing a really nice recorder
  • champagne MANGOES. *dies happy and sticky mango related death*
  • place that makes fresh peroshkies (I've probably butchered that spelling.) Didn't get any, but will probably return to do so.
  • A dumb stupid dickhead in an SUV that decided to pass about SIX INCHES behind me while I was crossing the street, because god forbid people in huge cars the size of a small asteroid actually be polite to pedestrians
  • the fact that my son is apparently developing Guy Tendencies, because he thinks the sound of an engine starting up is neat. He's still a big Madonna fan though. Work that one out if you feel like it.
  • A wine tasting. (Did not go in. It was hot and I was dehydrated and I had the boy and I do not hold my drink well. I'm a very cheap date.)
  • An email upon returning home saying they're putting Seaners in the morning preschool class
  • Much Nutella. Anyone actually like that stuff? If you do and can't get it where you are, I can hook you up. Not my thing, but some people are into it.

Not seen today: my phone. It's lost, and I think it might have a dead battery. Whoops ...

How was your day?

See, it's like this. :-D Sean had dropped his pacifier and he was already cranky and started fussing (it was hot out and we were just about done a whole bunch of errands). And so I went to pick up the binky and this ... frat boy ... who must have been on drugs, or something, he wasn't acting at all normally, you know? said to me "let me tell you something." And I'm like, okay, whatever, sure... and he says "don't be afraid to be too hard on him - because it sucks when you're a baby and you're twenty five. Just " (and here he did this random karate kick) "you know, don't be afraid to tell him who's boss." And I'm like "okay." (Humor the crazy person time) and went back to get the rest of my vegetables, and that was that. I would have totally been creeped out a LOT more except that we were in broad daylight on a crowded street corner, Sean was harnessed and attatched to my wrist, and the people at the fruit stand all know me. Still, creepy as hell.

Yes, he LOVES Madonna. Especially the new album. :-D We listen to that about three times in your average day.

What an idiot!!!! *eyeroll*

I'm glad you guys had a good day out, though, despite the asshat and the SUV unkindness. I love going out with the kiddos!

Your kids would totally love this place. The boys would love watching the fish guys throw the fish back and forth (well, maybe Jonathan wouldn'ty get much out of that, although I don't know) and Olivia would go crazy for the flowers (and the booth that has Fairy Princess Ponytail Holders...)
