I was at the farmer's market today and was hooked into buying some gorgeous alpaca DK weight yarn in a kind of coffee latte colour. The woman kindly pointed out which one of her adorable alpacas had provided the fiber, and I was totally sold.

So yeah, sell your future alpaca yarn at farmer's markets. Unexpected, but definitely a good idea, the knitters aren't expecting it and they're weak.

(They also had spinnable fiber.)

Dangerous people! Peaches and yarn. Hit me when I wasn't looking.

Other things I've found today: someone's Christmas gift, five dishtowels for a quarter, Japanese cucumbers (for refrigerator pickles) and thai iced chai. (omg yum) And a good coffee shop which is currently making lemon waffles for me.

I love my neighborhood. I may never move again.

That said, they were also selling peaches: I think that was their main product and the focus of the stand. The alpaca was a side product, which I didn't make clear initially. :-)

hah! iwas at the same market today (mmm...organic heirloom tomatos.....) and must have been after you because all they had left was bags of fuzz ;)

I'm thinking the alpaca fuzz goes in the same category as the nice vietnamese lady who sells awesome lemon cucumbers and beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers.

they grew it themselves, or harvest it from the wild, right?

I think its funny that we both were there today. of course, we had to hit weaving works first, it being a pilgramage site and all....

I actually live just up the street from Weaving Works. :-D It's horribly dangerous, living right there - you just go in to get needles and it sucks you in and then you've suddenly got a hundred dollars worth of Noro. :-D

I used to live really close to there, its a great neighborhood!

I was picking up yarn, etc for my sock swap partner, and at first pass, the socks would have cost about $60 for the yarn alone. eep! put it back and went for a still nice but less chic chic yarn :)
