arguments and other bad ideas

For those of you who weren't on twitter or who I didn't talk with in IM yesterday (that would be most of you) I had an argument that involved my knees, the floor, and a full glass of soda. Casualties were my knees (which are tragically bruised and which I can't even kneel on even on soft things at this point without crying) and my cheekbone, which ran into the edge of the glass on the way down. Fortunately (I suppose) nothing broke and I did not have to call 911.

So I'm buying one of those damnable granny-rolling-things because clearly I cannot trust my body to cooperate during the simple act of walking across a room.

You have no idea how angry and disgruntled and scared I am right now.

I know I don't understand on the level of having a chronic problem. But the last few weeks have brought me closer to understanding frustrating limits, and getting older has brought me closer to understanding how frustration and anger inducing it can be to feel as if your body is betraying you.

I'm not a House fan, I see way to many doctors in real life to want to watch a show about any of them on television. Well ok, except for Scrubs.

I like the way my mom taught me to keep the cat off the counter. I should post about it. Mostly you put a layer of lemon juice and water on the counter using a strip of foil.

Cats hate the taste of lemon, and it's an astringent, so it hurts their feet. They have to lick their feet clean, even though they hate the taste.

Once the cat figures out that jumping on the counter is unpleasant she stops. Then just use a lemon scented cleaner to wipe down the counters on a regular basis.

The cat stays off the counter, no need for anything fancy.

sticky tape loops are also good. the cat gets upset and associates the counter with getting his feet 'bitten' and then stays off.

I'm sorry you're angry and disgruntled (is there a way to be gruntled??) and scared. All this physical shit is scary, and I know you know I have an inkling of that.

A lot of people say she's a Cameron-clone, which I find is just /weird/ and ill-informed. They sort of kind of may look vaguely similar, but that's it. Jeez. :p

i used a walker for the first few weeks after my surgery. it's still in my closet right now, just in case. when i can do the stairs again and carry things simultaneously, i will take it to the basement. but not yet.

if you can, you might want one of the ones that are colored and have four wheels and a basket. they are way more sexy than the all aluminum colored ones, plus you can carry things. (it's hard to carry things while using a regular walker.)

Hey if you need a place to get a walker (or any other durable medical equipment, for that matter) there is a place on Aurora at about 75th called Access Medical Equipment (http://www.accessmedicalequipment.com/). The guy who runs it is nice as can be, and even took us outside and around the block to teach Luis how to push me in my push-chair when we got it. He gave him a full lesson - up and down stairs, over ramps, through the sidewalk obstacle course, everywhere. He was FANTASTIC.

Usually it's stated as though she's a Cameron-clone, which is ridiculous, IMO. possibly because they're both girls and they have the same color hair and Cameron had that aids scare in season 1, which is /totally/ the same as 13 having huntingtons except it's completely different. :p *rolls eyes*

I know how horrible it is when your body betrays you. Yuck. I hope you're feeling much better now.

I don't hate Thirteen, but she tends to irritates me - I love her interaction with House; they seem to have more of a friends-type relationship than boss-employee much of the time, and they make me laugh, but then she goes and does something annoying, or says something annoying, and then I get cross with her!

I love the anti-cat-on-counter device and the photos :D
