Am glad the scary news is not as scary as first reported. Do not like scary news.

Was attacked by an falling milk crate full of clothing this morning; fell backwards on floor, burned right shoulder on heater. (omfg pain!) Did not need to call 911 this morning; am okay now except for sore shoulder. (is first degree burn, am keeping things clean and covered. Will wash hair in sink for next day or two as hot water hitting shoulder is not something I'm looking forward to. (am partly documenting this here for my PT who likes to hear about things like falls.)

Am home with [livejournal.com profile] gizmometer and cats sharing blankets and laptopping. Will make ice cream later!

Have had dutch chocolate sprinkles on toast for breakfast (yes, this is legitimate breakfast item there). have forgotten how bloody fabulous it is.

How are you? <3

Before I continue this post, I'm going to say that I am actually physically more or less fine. Emotionally I am somewhat shaken: I feel somewhat unsteady on my feet and I'm taking today off. But I did not sustain any physical injuries.

I slipped on the floor, did a kind of crazy splits thing and ended up on my back in the tub. So I had to call 911 because there was no possible way I could get up from that position.

Hi! how are you?

[livejournal.com profile] cavalaxis, who runs musecrack and thus finds some of the finest photos and brain-chew-toys on the internet (as well as being a fabulous person) has brought us this link today: the saga of a guy who has taught his cat to use instant messaging.

In the same line, Elizabeth Bear's presumptuous cat stories (otherwise known as Cat versus Monkey) are giggleworthy.

I slept until 1. I suppose this is what happens to you when you push yourself too hard for about four or five days. Currently I am doing laundry and waiting for the goddamn Comcast rep to FINALLY SHOW UP and hook up our OWN GODSBEDAMNED INTERNET so I can do high-bandwidth activities and not feel bad about stealing huge amounts of wireless.

Tonight I'm going to the hothouse. After that I'm probably going to hang out in a coffeeshop. What's a good coffeeshop in my neck of the woods to hang out in that doesn't kick you out for using wireless and actually has drinkable coffee? Online is out given the coffee is the second worst I've ever tasted, and I'm boycotting Victrola because their internet policy bugs me (you can't use a laptop during certain hours. Not because it's a small space and they need people not to linger (which would have been fine by me, and at least honest) but because they're trying to create a more 'intimate' and 'community friendly' space - so you could hypothetically sit there with a book or what have you for the same amount of time, just not a laptop. I don't know - I just don't like people pissing in my ear and telling me it's raining.)

Anyway, hi! How are you?
phinnia: smiling dolphin face (paper stars)
For those of you who weren't on twitter or who I didn't talk with in IM yesterday (that would be most of you) I had an argument that involved my knees, the floor, and a full glass of soda. Casualties were my knees (which are tragically bruised and which I can't even kneel on even on soft things at this point without crying) and my cheekbone, which ran into the edge of the glass on the way down. Fortunately (I suppose) nothing broke and I did not have to call 911.

So I'm buying one of those damnable granny-rolling-things because clearly I cannot trust my body to cooperate during the simple act of walking across a room.

You have no idea how angry and disgruntled and scared I am right now.

clickies for the day:

how to keep your cats off the counters. From the marvelous [livejournal.com profile] foxestacado. <3

Governor of Washington state to be Dora the Explorer for Halloween. From the most awesome [livejournal.com profile] thewlisian_afer.

Two from the fantastic [livejournal.com profile] gokuma, who often knows when I need something to cheer me up: the big picture: world animal day and the big picture: lighting up the night. These are amazing.

I thought House was excellent last night, although the huge amount of Thirteen-hate out there baffles me. *shrug* I guess it would be boring if we were all the same.

Dear left thigh muscles:

Please stop being made of fail. Nearly passing out on the stairs to the building? Not cool. I do not want to have to go around the corner nearly a block out of the way to take the back stairs everywhere. I can, but I really hate that.

Dear Science,

WHERE IS MY FREAKING CYBERBODY? THIS MEAT BODY SUCKS.
