clickies

brought to you today by [livejournal.com profile] bernie_laraemie (a snappy dresser as well as a perfectly victorian gentleman) and [livejournal.com profile] wintersweet (who is one of my guides into the strange and fascinating randomness that is japanese culture, as well as being a great person).

a japanese life in bento SO FREAKING CUTE!

unhappy children "end up unwell"

trek to examine melting of sea ice (i love antarctica best but the northern pole is pretty awesome too.)

researchers find way to make stem cells from skin

archaeologists find lost egyptian tomb

parrots teach man to speak again. SO FREAKING COOL.

woman had cesarian section and open heart surgery at the same time.

saw [livejournal.com profile] doubletake today which made me very, very happy. she hung curtains and my little strings of butterfly/dragonfly lights and moved sean's room around. emmi is kind of like an anti-tornado. she comes in and leaves calmness and neatness behind. <3 <3 it made my otherwise miserable (high-pain is all, nothing else wrong) day a lot better.

Tonight i'm having a grilled cheese and canadian bacon sandwich, placing an amazonfresh order and writing for [livejournal.com profile] purimgifts (hopefully). i've finally figured out what at least two of the things are going to be at least, so i'm good, i think. i just need to write them.

aortic dissection is in that category of "things i'm incredibly afraid of". though it's fab to hear they can fix it before you get dead. and i'm glad they both lived.

i was an unhappy child. just nobody apparently noticed the years i didn't smile. i kind of wonder about cause and effect with that stuff. nobody believes kids who say they're in pain, for example - so technically we don't become disabled till much later in life, even if maybe if someone had listened to us it was there all along.

i like the parrot man.

i also like the bento. strange how you can always tell when photos are in miniature; i don't know why, but there's a certain quality to miniature things that gives them away (and can be quite cute).
i miss onigiri and umeboshi. so much.

dragonfly lights and curtains are good.

Usually the big give away is depth-of-field. In fact, this is sometimes exploited to make large things look miniature.
