phinnia: smiling dolphin face (tsunami)
I found out last night that Rhode Island isn't an island at all.
What the hell? Why not? This bothered me for a good forty minutes.
(Note for the newcomers: I'm Canadian. So I didn't have to learn US geography. This is why I can get away with being nearly twenty-seven (oh God I'm nearly twenty-seven) and not have encountered this sooner.)

While putting Sean to bed ...

Chris: (singing) Now it's time to say ...
Sean: Ni ni!
*parents look shocked at each other*

Likely a coincindence. Cute anyway.

Thinking about: checkerboards and maps. And the next portion of the little serials I'm working on.

Doing: Not much. Waiting for the mail to come in.

What's on my mind: Just called an old friend (like high school days) out of the clear blue nothing, left a message on her machine. Hopefully she still remembers/wants to talk to me. I seem to remember we last spoke on reasonable terms. I think. I'm pretty sure.
Problem is I have rather horrible phone anxiety, especially when talking to people I haven't spoken to in ages. Or don't speak to very often. Or indeed most phone calls. Phones are really the great satan. So I'm killing myself waiting and hoping that she won't just spit on me (metaphorically speaking; it's hard to spit that far with any degree of accuracy.)
So yeah, there's a part of my mind that's gibbering over being a stupid that assumes that people want anything to do with me at the moment. I'll get over it. </whinebitchcomplainselfpityparty>

Stuff I should be doing: cleaning the kitchen, laundry, putting up my new postcard hangery things I got from Pier One.

Planning: a vacation this summer that includes Boston/NYC. We'll probably fly out and take the train between two points.

Sad, sad people, spawning.
I feel like taking up a collection for some of these children for their eventual therapy bills. How in the holy name of Zarquon would you even pronounce 'Xev'?

I just spent an hour on the phone laughing and having fun.
You may all faint from shock now.

It occurs to me that this song is really, really appropriate right at the moment.

Yes, Chris just came home from The Store Which Has At Least Some of Our Money (that's Radio Shack; other contenders include CompUSA, Powells, or CDConnection.com) with TWO WAY RADIOS.
Yes, I always wanted a set when I was tiny, but I never had the chance.
[livejournal.com profile] dawnstar, does this further cement our status as Most Wired Couple?

1. What was the last song you heard?

"Frankenfood" - the last song on 'C' by Moxy Fruvous.

2. What were the last two movies you saw?

Fargo (hee! the accents make me giggle) and Chasing Amy.

3. What were the last three things you purchased?

Oooh. Some CDs from Newbury Comics (In Time: Best of REM, Sing Loud Sing Proud - Dropkick Murphys, 20 Years of TMBG) some stuff from Little Earth (bottlecap belt, hairbrush, scrapbook, travellin' CD case), and some other CDs from Alibris. (Surf's Up/Sunflower - Beach Boys, Rubber Soul - Beatles, Fallow - Weakerthans).
I shop online a lot.

4. What four things do you need to do this weekend?

I need to arrange that business with Emmi and David about the sofa.
I need to clean the house.
I need to do laundry.
I need to shower.

5. Who are the last five people you talked to?

Well, we'll say that instant messaging counts:
