phinnia: smiling dolphin face (gerbera)
[livejournal.com profile] irregular_comic has a new and nifty feature - screen-reader legible dialogue.
This is one of the awesomest geeky comics on the internets. Now I can share something else with [livejournal.com profile] tallin besides bad puns.
SHARE...
(Maybe some other comics will start doing that now. Here's hoping.)

Mark Jenkins makes people out of tape and leaves them places. The small ones in particular are a little surreal - especially the one sitting on the curb with a ball in its hands. ([livejournal.com profile] mamallama might like to see this kind of tape art.)
(He's also the first URL I've seen with 'x's at both ends. I thought that was just found in teenybopper LJ usernames. Hm.)

Thing I don't understand today:

In various food photography communities, you occasionally see people cut-tagging pictures of meat ostensibly for vegetarians/vegans. Is this some kind of weird misplaced courtesy on their part, or are there really people THAT sensitive that they don't want to encounter pictures of cooked meat? That strikes me as a little much. I mean, if you need to be padded that much from reality maybe you should go live in a yurt somewhere. Or at least not go on the internet, anyway. (Besides: I have yet to see vegetarians/vegans cut-tag their tofu, and even I believe that tofu is only good in certain applications.)

Myself, I don't eat meat because I don't care for it and I don't like cooking it. I can't cook it properly, either. So I elect to not bother. I'm sensitive to the notion of factory farming, and I try to buy organic/local and not eat out at fast food restaurants whenever possible ... but I know it's out there. People eat meat. Whether I agree with them or not is scarcely relevant, because arguing with someone won't change their mind most of the time.

But it doesn't OFFEND me. I don't care for the smell of poultry, but that's not transmitted over TCP/IP. Jeez.

Wherein the programmer MST3K's the manual for the most useless piece of software ever written. This is, I swear to all that is holey, a fake car stereo. I do not have to make this up, because it is real.
