phinnia: smiling dolphin face (inspiration at last)
Another [livejournal.com profile] anthropomor_fic. These strike me at the oddest times.

They had been at this for miles now - certainly since she’d turned off the freeway. Mother Goddess clenched her teeth and counted backwards from ten.

“Stop it!”

“Stop it!”

“Mom, he’s-”

“Mom, he’s-”

“Make him stooooooooooop.”

“Make him stooooooooooop.”

She turned around and glared her twin sons into silent submission.

“If I have to stop this car,” said the Mother Goddess, very, very quietly, “you are both going to be very, very sorry.”

“He started it!”

“No, he started it!”

She was starting to lose her patience. “I don’t care who you think started it, you’re both going to stop it this instant if you know what’s good for you!

Silence fell over the small car.

Life reached cautiously across the back seat and poked his brother in the arm.

“Stop touching me.” Art hissed.

This is your brain on comic books.
Kay made me - MADE ME, I tell you - read through The Authority v. 1 and v. 2.
I want to be Jack when I grow up. Or possibly the Doctor. Either will work.
Seriously, what else have I been missing? My parents never let me read comic books growing up. I was apparently too advanced for that.
(While I'm flattered, in a way, boo. :P)

Soon I will go out and pretend to know what I'm doing and try not to stab myself/anyone else with knitting needles. I'm not holding my breath. Your journalist is possibly the most uncoordinated person on earth; I habitually trip over molecules and had to be removed from an assembly line job because I couldn't get it. So this should be interesting.

I actually remembered how to knit some!
Seriously, this is a big thing. I am not so good with the physical skills (I have the worst kinesthetic learning ability) and I have a terrible memory. But I figured it out again easily, although casting on is still a massive pain in the ass. The people at the yarn place are nice and friendly and if you need help desperately you're encouraged to come in and people will fix your mistakes and pat you on the head.
I also figured out what I was doing wrong before (pulling my stitches too tight on the needle, which led to lots of annoying wrestling and giving up).
Wow. I mean, damn. This might make sense yet.
