It is snowing quite a bit. I'd say there must be at least two inches and it's still coming down. this of course means that the big boy is working at home today, and the little boy is off school. (the girlcat is currently cuddling with the little boy, who is asleep. I really need a new camera. *laughs*

Clickies today!

from the wonderfully talented [livejournal.com profile] onceupon: amazon has a fantastic shaped bundt cake pan selection. I am SO EXCITED about those. I want them all.

From the excellent [livejournal.com profile] ninjakitten: man who snatched wig will have toupee. i love a headline writer with a sense of humor. <3

From the marvelous [livejournal.com profile] maddoggirl: baker refuses to make cake for ... unfortunately named toddler. in my opinion that kid is going to need a LOT of therapy.

And from the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] shutterbug_12: it took 90 minutes for the daily news to 'steal' the empire state building. this is fantastic, definitely a must-read.

Today's to-do list:
Finish breakfast
Find lost DPN that the kid has gotten into
Learn long-tail caston: cast on for mittens
write something fictionlyish.

[livejournal.com profile] shadowgoddess42: If the snow hasan't melted by tomorrow I'm going to have to cancel our writing date AGAIN on account of snow: it's not safe for me to walk around in the snow. AUGH. (this is also why I haven't got my wheelchair yet. Fortunately the latest I will get it is 12/26 because I already have another PT scheduled for then. That's something anyway.)

From the absolutely marvelous [livejournal.com profile] nightdog_barks: fascinating article on christmas creches.

From the most fantastic 'Licia ever: (that little ' there is a click-sound in my head, btw) the shocking pink dragon millipede a highlight of new species finds. This thing looks like something you'd find in a toy for boys age six to ten, one of those gross-out-bug-making toys. And its actual name REALLY IS the Shocking Pink Dragon Millipede. Biology is AWESOME.

Most dangerous parts of America revealed in the Death Map. I think it's mostly charting the likelihood of random death by nature. It's still interesting.

cost of twelve days of christmas items in 2008. It contrasts it from the previous year, too. Also: swans are bloody expensive creatures.

The path dissolves.

Within is silence, sharp and beautiful.

The air is cold and still; it snaps like a breaking bone, a falling icicle, skin between two fingers. Everything is shades painted on shadows; dark jagged curves of stone, palest rings as a water-strider defines surface tension.

Voices cast their own ripples through the air.

I can't ... what if

She knows about the -- she'll --

Right. Right..

The fog parts, allows them entry.

Three weeks later:

Bones, picked clean, scoured white: the only markers on a disappearing path.
