phinnia: brave little toaster, petting blanky <3 (brave little toaster)
It's the last day before Christmas. We still have snow. I'm probably not going to be around online later for long, mostly because I have a Sekrit Thing that needs Doing. But I wanted to say that I love all of you: I really do. I hope you all have wonderful days with as little drama as possible.

I have a Christmas fic: I'll be posting it later because I confess it isn't done yet. Moving wore me out more than I like and there were med changes and so this month's output is low. I'll make up for it soon, after the kid's back in school I expect.

Clickie du jour is not weird, but it is wonderful. Cookie factory reopens and hires back workers it had to previously let go. From the most excellent [livejournal.com profile] kibbles.

Wonderful things in the mail from [livejournal.com profile] benjimmy (yesterday, but he knows - I wrote him an email yesterday. <3), my BPAL "Chaotic Fairy", who remains a mystery, and Megan with no LJ (hi Megan!) who actually lives in Capitol Hill not too far from me: she's been reading and wanted to send me some sock yarn. (This floored me, in all seriousness.)

My mantra is always "i'm just zis girl, you know?" and it probably always will be. It really amazes me that other people are reading and enjoying what they read. I consider myself one of the luckiest people on the planet right now, because I can count so many people as my friends.

(yes, I am crying right now, because I am a sap.)

So have a good holiday. Be safe. If you need a shoulder to cry on, email me. (I mean that.) I love you.

Okay, so I sent Chris to the store the other day for some Things. And among those Things I had sent him for was a Ham.

Now to be fair I meant one of those smallish hamlike roasts. He returned with A Gigantic Ham That Could Feed The Masses. The real thing. Some kind of massive ham shank roast.

... what the hell do I do with this? I have a reasonably complete pantry. Help!

Our weird Christmas traditions:

We always watch "A Christmas Story" on TBS starting at 8 until we're ready to go to bed, and then we turn it on in the morning again and rewatch it until we've had enough. <3

There's also a story about The Arrogant Worms' Christmas album, a particular song called 'Christmas in Ignace' and how it gets sung at least twice at top volume sometime on Christmas Day; this is because many years ago we we had come home on Christmas Eve to find that our heating was out, so we were wearing layer upon layer of clothes and still freezing (it was buffalo, NY in winter) so we were on very little sleep and were somewhat-hysterically singing 'Christmas in Ignace' as we waited on Christmas morning for the landlord to fix the heat. It's one of those weird things that was terribly amusing on very little sleep and has since continued on.
