It is, of course, Canadian Content Day - I'm pretty sure it was [livejournal.com profile] talphinia that pioneered that concept, or if not, [livejournal.com profile] kolys and [livejournal.com profile] dawnstar came up with it independently, I'm not sure. Well, originally it was the CRTC, if you want to get technical about it.

So yeah. Happy Canada Day, eh? And yes, I do say 'eh.' Not all Canadians say 'eh', but I do.

Now back to wrestling with Regenesis (my [livejournal.com profile] julnawrimo project.) Four pages, baby. I can do four pages. As soon as my fingers unstiffen from the cold.

Silk is at the vet, getting fixed. We've managed to find ourselves a holistic vet, who recommended a raw food diet and is cool enough to show us where to start with that, and who gave Silk Rescue Remedy when he was freaking out. They have fleas, which apparently we can deal with naturally - there's a natural defleaing service he uses that will come in and deflea your house without causing horrible smells that will cause Phinnias headaches. I've always been curious about raw feeding (I know [livejournal.com profile] tviokh and [livejournal.com profile] manhattan have had good luck with that) but most of the information I've found is dogs, not cats, so it's good that we found this vet. (Admittedly I'm probably looking in the wrong places.) And I don't have to cook the meat, which is a serious bonus for me. I hate cooking meat. That's about 40% of the reason I'm vegetarian.

Speaking of Silk, he sprung the lock on his carrier and got out the window of the cab last night on the way to the vet, having an adventure on Milwaukie Avenue. He is, fortunately, fine and none the worse for wear, just scaring us and himself in the process.

Seaners got mail today - a book from Seedlings: they're giving away free braille kids' books in a drawing. Seaners got the 'Spot Counts from 1 to 10' in print-braille. Is cute.

I didn't know Tanglefoot had a new album out. *hm* I'll have to get that one, and A Grain of Salt - I don't have either. Ooh, and a live one, and a DVD.

Josh is being a pain in the ass right now. Of course, I suppose it's not really very fun remembering ones' own death scene. But really, we're so past that now.

Hm.

Well, Silk is home and not too much the worse for wear. He's got homeopathic arnica to help with the swelling and a detox tincture to help with the side effects of the anesthesia. And giving a cat homeopathics is much easier than giving them to a two year old, incidentally.

Apparently we've got too much Canadian Content for one day. I barely made a dent in it, and we've had CDs going all day. Although I realized we have no BNL. We have lots of other bands that most people have only barely heard of, but no BNL. We also haven't touched the Great Big Sea yet. It's been a Holly Cole/Sarah McLachlan/Fruvous/Susan Aglukark/Tanglefoot kind of day so far.
Annnyway. Are Road Rage and Sea of No Cares any good? I was really disappointed in Something Beautiful, having not heard much since Turn; I don't know, it just wasn't as good as the earlier stuff, in my opinion. I'll /buy/ them if they are, but if they're not, I don't feel like wasting the money.
