Jerry Orbach died.
Bah, I say. Bah and freakin' humbug. Damn you, time, for advancing at the rate of one.
He'll always live on in reruns.
These shoes are incredibly cool.
Computer snuff films. Yes, really.

More later when I have coffee. Coffee good, mornings bad.

chips without dip
Installed my new memory. On the downside there were 2 128MB chips already there, which meant that I didn't get the 512MB I'd been hoping for because I had to obviously remove one. On the upside, the upgrade to 384MB is already noticeably decent, and I can order a new chip in a few weeks. Rock. I might be able to play The Sims without it LAGGING TO DEATH!

planes, trains and automobiles
Tallin finally got his itinerary for SF (leaving out 6AM on the 7th of January, back that evening - he's got to go get his visa at the consulate and the lucky bastard doesn't have Friday classes) and for Mumbai (leaving 21 January at 11AM, landing 23 January at 1 AM localtime (they're PST+13.5, which is GMT+5.5) - leaving 29 8:00 AM localtime, landing 10PM PST on the same day. Let's do the timewarp again, children. :-D

in search of
Another babysitter. The new one bailed out of one day a week, so we're down to finding someone for Tuesday nights. We've got a lead, but they're not getting back to us. *grumbles darkly* Apparently the 'programmer gets what he wants' mentality does not extend to Mrs. Programmer. Or maybe he's just not wanting hard enough.
*coughs* Erm, that was an interestingly wacky phrasing. Moving on, nothing to see here.
phinnia: it's a brain. in a skull. (brain)
Someday there will be a brilliant person that will invent a teeny little nanochip that you can insert in your glasses frames at manufacture which be linked to a remote, the eventual aim being able to press a button on the remote and cause your glasses to beep.
And if I have money to give, I'll give them millions. Because I'll be able to prevent wandering around the apartment like a dork trying to find the glasses I left inside to avoid their being spotted by rain.

You can pre-order Harry Potter book #6 at Powells' City of Books, which is independent, very nifty, and also has wish lists. Of course they only do books, but they do them very well.
(It's $21 there for pre-order. Amazon has it for $18 right now, but ... there's that independent-supporting-local-industry thing. See also why Wal-Mart is on my personal blacklist.)
