phinnia: smiling dolphin face (wistfulnancy)
The cold that will not die still won't die. If it's not gone by tomorrow I'm dragging myself to Student Health. I'm hoping I don't have walking pneumonia or something awful like that. As it stands I had to take some of that cough syrup with codeine, which is great fun because you sleep like someone's turned you into a golem.

I'm stuck on the damn novel draft again, and last night while the codeine was kicking in I had thought about radically shifting in POV ... and I wonder maybe if I shouldn't dump this and rewrite it as individual short story style chapters in varying POV like George Martin (the author, not the Beatles' producer) ... but I'll probably just try that for the next part and see how it works. Fix it in the rewrite.

Sean has a new COMPETENT bus driver that knows how to work the damn car seats. And we will all say YAY. Chris's computer has a motif (usage from [livejournal.com profile] paradoxhorizon) that is causing it to be weird about the video hardware. The boy still hates mornings. And that's all the news that isn't from my house.

Except for that which is behind this cut thing and is probably only interesting to women, which is to say, it contains a request for information about menstrual products. Venture at your own risk. )

I was thinking about (in my quest, hopefully aided by the presence of [livejournal.com profile] doubletake next weekend, to have curtains on the front window by the time teh father-in-law arrives) getting one of those long sticks of bamboo or wooden dowelling (possibly painted to look like bamboo) and cup hooks or something, and then getting those weird little clip-on curtain rings that I swear I remember seeing somewhere and some of those really spiffy scarves/sari fabric from the wacky Indian store on 39th and Hawthorne and putting them all together to create some kind of pretty floaty curtain. Yeah. Assuming those components exist outside of my imagination, I should be fine. Do they? The curtain rings? I could be confused.
(Edit: no, they do exist. Awesome.)

Related note: Anyone on my fiends-list (locals probably) been to Old Wives' Tales on E Burnside? Apparently it's kid-and-vegetarian friendly, we were thinking of taking FIL + Non-Blind Aunt Sue (this appelation only makes sense when you realize that Chris also has a blind Aunt Sue) there for dinner.

I have written next to nothing today. *sigh* *argh* I feel like ew. I hate going to the doctor and I hate antibiotics, but I think it's time for both. The coughing + shallow breathing combo is really getting annoyingly old.
