phinnia: smiling dolphin face (domesticity)
I have figured out the purl stitch! *boogiedances* YAY ME. It is not hard and scary. I now have curling stockinette stitch like everyone else!

Next-next project, after the hat: the green shrug in this picture. Probably in some other colour.

(Needs knitting icon: uses generalized domestic dork icon instead)
phinnia: (herself the elf)
Multilingual TTS chip. (I'd say maximum five people will care about this, but hey, I'm married to one of those people.) I thought DECTalk was dead: shows how much I'm up on things. (I'm totally used to the sound of those things now, and the default slow speeds drive me loopy. Chris has his at about 700WPM.)

Also: I forgot to mention that I woke up at like, 4:00 in the morning to the sounds of our upstairs neighbors drunk off their collective asses singing the national anthem. Yes, we have patriotic drunks in our building. Fortunately they only had one go-round with it, and then they stopped, and were quiet again. I remember some definite humming through the last few lines.

I actually had to wake Chris up and make sure he heard it too, in case I was convinced I had hallucinated the whole thing. It totally screwed with my dreams, before and after, anyway.

I now have a swatch of stockinette in some truly ugly acrylic yarn that squeaks when you knit with it. (Yuk). But I can now DO THINGS.
