phinnia: (herself the elf)
Reading: The Turmeric Trail, by Raghavan Iyer. It's a memoir with recipes. Lots of luscious Indian food. I need to find an Indian grocery.

Scented with: Dragon Moon. I'm falling in love with this, and I only have an imp. *headdesk* Bad idea. I don't suppose anyone has a bottle of Dragon Moon that they just hate? *crickets chirp*

Happy about: The kiddo is sleeping better at night for some reason which I refuse to complain about. The kitten is fat and happy and able to climb out of its bin; it is adventuresome and noisy. (It is now a month old, too. Yay kitten!)

Planning: Uncertain. May be going to Shakespeare in the Park this weekend, may not; it depends. Maybe World of Warcraft. I need to get my rogue up past 32, which may require me actually finding people to play with - volunteers accepted. :-D Definitely making this cake.

Job hunt for spouse: Continues apace, goes well.

Linguistic acquisition for child: Many new sounds. No new words, but many many new sounds. He is also prone to musical earworms. (I'm probably the only one that finds the earworms cute and squeeworthy - except maybe [livejournal.com profile] tallin - but hey, when the kid can't talk you take your joys where you can find them.)

Dumb things I've done today: Caught my hand in the security handle for the gate (it's one of those where you lift up part on the top, and I was pushing it down and got part of my hand caught in). Ow ow ow.

What I need: A haircut. Really.

How are you?

Good thing! The Registrar General is 'reviewing my application'. Which is a step up from 'there is a problem with your application but we won't say what'! Maybe sometime they'll actually give me my damn birth certificate. Green card replacement is filed for and in process.

Not-so-good thing! Next step: deal with the frickin' SSA, which is just as annoying as the Ontario Registrar General, except with less garantours. Please God let them not want to see my passport (which is expired because I haven't needed to use it so I have to apply for a new one, which of course requires my birth certificate - third base!). Otherwise this is going to take EVEN LONGER. Although it's possible the Consulate can expedite my application for a passport...)

NOTE to ANY GREEN CARD HOLDERS FROM CANADA. FOR GOD'S SAKE, KEEP YOUR PASSPORT CURRENT EVEN IF YOU DON'T NEED THE DAMN THING. USCIS could have just stamped my passport and it would have served well enough until my replacement green card came in ... to fill out the I-9 and to get across the border.

/waits on hold hearing stuff about Social Security and how we're all going to hell in a handbasket

Thank God. They just want to see my green card. Excellent. And I had a nice conversation about the Maritimes with the dude on the other end of the line.

/sigh of relief

Is it possible to create a moodtheme using Scrapbook images without having to cut and paste /every individual URL/ if they're in the same directory? Is it possible to see the original filename after you've uploaded an image to Scrapbook? Or should I just give up and use something else to host them? Because this is DRIVING ME INSANE.

*hits head on desk repeatedly* ARGH ARGH ARGH ARGH.

Also: is there any godly reason why someone would need the conception kit? I mean, it's not IVF, obviously, so why not just do it the regular way? The mind boggles. Maybe I'm missing something. Is there actually enough demand for this that it would warrant mass marketing?
